Update — 08/19/08

Currently, Lori is receiving high doses of very potent chemotherapy and will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant (using her own stem cells) next week. She is being kept in isolation because her immune system is so low.
Feel free to drop Lori a line wishing her well, care of Care5, by sending an e-mail to care5@ymail.com

For those who do not know Lori, she is a strong courageous 38-year-old mother of two young boys, Zachary and Connor. She is a wife, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend and many more things to many more people. She has been diagnosed with Intravascular Lymphoma, an insidious rare form of cancer that does not typically affect someone this young. The cancer is being treated aggressively and frequently which makes it impossible for Lori to work outside of the home and requires a family member to transport and care for her and the children while her husband is working. Currently, Lori is undergoing a bone marrow transplant, and an even more aggressive form of chemotherapy. Due to this intense and aggressive treatment, she must remain in the hospital for 4 weeks isolated from her children, family and friends.
If you ask anyone who knows Lori to describe her the first thing anybody says is what a caring and dedicated mother she is. This disease is robbing her of spending time with her children and of the strength to be able to perform all of the loving and special tasks she has always performed for them daily.
All of Lori’s friends and family have asked how they can help and what they can do to be of assistance to Lori during this most difficult time in her life. The answer is – help us raise funds to cover the cost of her treatments and help alleviate some of the economic burden this horrific illness has placed upon her husband and family. We are asking for your help in any way possible (monetary donations, time, food donations, raffle items, etc…).
Throughout this year, we are going to be hosting a variety of events to raise money to assist the Diamantino family through these difficult times. Please visit our site often to look for opportunities for you to assist us in this endeavor.
